Gear damage (for the machine head with gear speed increase)

  1. When the gear bears the axial external force, the input bearing of the machine head receives the axial force. Although there is a butterfly spring on the inner shaft end to compensate for this force, it will still affect the gear meshing and cause the gear to be damaged.
  2. Poor fuel injection. The diameter of the fuel injection hole is very small, generally about 10-2mm, so the oil quality is not good or the oil is dirty, it is easy to deposit carbon or block, causing the gear to lack of oil and damage. If the temperature is too high, the gear will anneal and become soft.
  3. Poor dynamic balance of the coupling can easily cause gear damage. Due to the high speed of the machine head, dynamic balance is very important. Poor balance is generally accompanied by early bearing wear and oil leakage.
  4. Poor coaxiality between the machine head and the motor. If the coupling is improperly adjusted, it will cause radial jump at the input end, causing damage to the gears due to poor meshing.

Difference between gear drive and belt drive of variable frequency air compressor

 

1, Efficiency,

Excellent gear transmission efficiency can reach 98%-99%, and excellent belt transmission design can also reach 99% efficiency under normal working conditions.The difference between the two does not depend on the choice of transmission mode, but on the manufacturer's design and manufacturing level.

2, No load energy consumption

For direct gear transmission, no-load pressure is generally maintained at more than 2.5 bar, and some even as high as 4 bar, to ensure lubrication of the gearbox.

In the case of belt drive, no-load pressure can theoretically be zero because the oil sucked into the rotor is sufficient to lubrate the rotor and bearings.For safety purposes, the pressure is maintained at about 0.5 bar.Taking a 160-kW geared air compressor as an example, it works 8000 hours per year, of which 15% (i.e. 1200 hours) are idle. This machine will consume 28,800 kWh more electricity per year than the belt driven air compressor of the same power (assuming the no-load pressure difference between the two machines is 2 bar, about 15% energy consumption difference).In the long run, this will be costly.

3, The loss of oil

Experienced practical users know that the gearbox will be the first to suffer in a loss of oil.The belt drive system does not have such safety problems at all.

4. Design working pressure according to user requirements

Usually the working pressure required by the user is not exactly the same as that of the manufacturer's standard model.For example, the user's required pressure is 10 bar. According to the condition of post-processing equipment, pipe length and sealing degree, the working pressure of air compressor may be 11 or 11.5 bar.In this case, an air compressor with a rated pressure of 13 bar will generally be installed and the outlet pressure set at the site to the required working pressure.At this point, the exhaust volume will basically remain the same, because the final working pressure is reduced but the rotor speed does not increase.Represent the modern technology of belt drive design manufacturers simply change the pulley diameter and design the working pressure to be exactly the same as the user's requirements, so that the user with the same power of the motor can get more air volume.For gears, this is not so convenient.
